Terms of use and sale

Who publishes MenuNative

MenuNative is published by FILABS, a French simplified joint-stock company with a single shareholder (SASU) with a share capital of €1,000, registered office: 60 rue François Ier, 75008 Paris, France. Registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register (RCS Paris) under number 930 621 719. EU VAT number: FR14930621719. Contact: [email protected].

These terms apply to the MenuNative app (iPhone, Android and web) and to the menunative.com website. By using the app, you accept them. What we do with your data is explained separately, on the Privacy and legal notice page.

The service

You take a photo of a restaurant menu. MenuNative finds each dish where it is on the photo, translates it without erasing the original text, explains it (what it is, how to eat it), and shows your order in large type, in the original language, for you to show the staff.

No account

No account is needed. Your history, your orders and your profile (language, allergies, tastes) stay on your device: if you delete the app or change phones, they don’t follow you. The only exception: a menu you choose to share is published on a link, valid for 30 days, which you can turn off.

A purchase is tied to your App Store or Google Play account, not to a MenuNative account: on a new device, tap “Restore purchases”.

The free tier

Your first 3 photos are free (one photo = one page of a menu).

After that, in the iPhone and Android app, when this option is offered, you can keep going for free with one short ad per menu (up to 6 pages), which you choose to watch, up to 3 menus a day. Never an ad at launch, over a menu that is already translated, or on the order screen.

On the web, no ads and no purchase for now: after the 3 free photos, continue in the iPhone or Android app.

The free tier may change; the one that applies is the one shown in the app.

AI translations and explanations

Translations, explanations, detected prices and their conversion are produced automatically by artificial intelligence. They can be incomplete or wrong: a misread name, a missing ingredient, a price attached to the wrong dish, an approximate exchange rate.

They are provided as is, for guidance only. When it matters, check with the staff before you order.

Allergies and health

MenuNative is not a medical tool. The allergens and spice level shown are those of the dish’s usual recipe, not necessarily this restaurant’s, and the AI can be wrong.

Never rely on the app for an allergy, an intolerance or a medical diet: always ask the staff before you order. The allergy phrases in the country guide help you ask the question; they don’t replace the answer.

Sharing

When you share a menu, its translation and, where applicable, its photo become visible to anyone who has the link, for 30 days or until you turn it off. Don’t share a photo showing people or personal information. You are responsible for what you share; we may remove content that is reported. To report content: [email protected].

Acceptable use

MenuNative is made for personal use, at the table or while planning a trip. You may not:

  • get around the free photos, the daily limit or the ads;
  • run scans automatically (scripts, bots, direct calls to our server);
  • extract translations, explanations or the dish database in bulk;
  • resell the service or its results;
  • disrupt the service, or send images that are unlawful or unrelated to a menu.

The ad-free version is meant for reasonable personal use: if usage is abnormally high, reading new menus may be paused until the start of the next month. In case of abuse, we may limit or suspend access for the device concerned.

The ad-free version (Premium): prices and payment

Three options, with no ads: €2.99 a month or €19.99 a year (subscriptions), or €49.99 once (one-time purchase, no renewal, valid for as long as the MenuNative service is offered). Prices include VAT, as shown by the App Store or Google Play at the time of purchase; depending on your country, the store may show them in your currency.

You buy in the iPhone or Android app. Payment is collected by Apple or Google, depending on your phone; we never see your card details. Buying on the web is not open yet.

Renewal and cancelling

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (month or year), at the current price, unless you cancel it before then, within the time your store specifies. If the price changes, your store notifies you under its own rules.

To cancel: on iPhone, Settings › your name › Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid period: you keep the ad-free version until then. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Refunds and withdrawal

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, under their own policies: request a refund from Apple, Google Play refund policies. If something goes wrong, you can also write to us at [email protected].

For the right of withdrawal that applies to purchases of digital content and services in the European Union, see the terms of your store, which collects the payment, or write to us.

Liability

We do our best to keep MenuNative working well, but we cannot guarantee that it is always available or free of errors (network, store, a provider’s outage). As translations and explanations are for guidance only, the choice to order and eat a dish is yours.

These limits apply only to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms reduces the rights the law gives you as a consumer, including the legal guarantee of conformity.

Changes

These terms may change as the app evolves. If there is an important change, we let you know in the app before it applies; if you have a subscription running, you can cancel it. The date of the last update is at the top of this page.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by French law. If you live in another European Union country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country.

A question, a problem? Write to [email protected]: we always look for an amicable solution first.
